The conference „reVize Typologie“ has been organized annually since 2018 by the Department of Building Theory at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague under the leadership of Professor Michal Kohout. The half-day conference focuses on current topics in the field of design, management, operation, and research in the built environment.
In 2026 the event will have the format of a policy and research dialog with the aims to:
· outline how trends shaped by the rapid application of artificial intelligence-based technologies will change how people live, work and move in cities and metropolitan regions,
· discuss how spatial planning, urban design and real estate management should prepare for these behaviour changes of residents, commuters and visitors,
· discuss what demands AI infrastructure (e.g. data centres) and AI enabled technologies (e.g. autonomous vehicles, drones) place on the built environment in our cities and how this should be (critically) reflected by planners and real estate managers.
Block 1 / How will AI change the way we live, work and move in cities and city regions?
This initial block will focus on the broader impacts of artificial intelligence on the functioning of cities and metropolitan regions. The discussion will lead to questions about how the adoption of AI based technologies will affect the organization of urban space, new building typologies, the functioning of services, and changes in demand for different types of real estate.
What is the expected pace of the AI revolution? What aspects of urban live will be changed? How should planning and real estate respond?
Block 2 / Data-driven mobility: autonomy, logistics, and the transformation of streets
This block will focus on the impact of autonomous transport, micromobility, controlled logistics, and the possible advent of drone services on urban planning and urban design. The discussion will provide answers on how to redesign street space, what scenarios of modal split development can be expected, and how infrastructure requirements will change.
Block 3 / Work and housing in the AI era: need for new building typologies?
Here, participants will focus on how digital transformation and new work patterns (remote, hybrid, flexible modes) are shaping demand for offices, housing, and mixed-use programs. The discussion will open up questions about micro-apartments, flexible offices, adaptive building conversions, and the resilience of portfolios in development.
